Getting Back Into Eating

I'm trying to keep my meals as simple as possible and am eating more mono meals. Today I had water with lemon first thing, then around 9:00 am I had a grapefruit. I'm really enjoying grapefruit right now, something I've never really eaten in the past. Around 11:00 am I had six prunes that I soaked overnight. Not sure how long I'll keep eating prunes, but they sure do taste good. At noon I had two oranges, I blended one and poured it over a cut up one in a bowl, very yummy!

Mid-afternoon I made a banana smoothie, just bananas and three soaked dates. I was quite hungry so I think I had five bananas and I also put in a couple of tablespoons of a mixture of ground up flaxseeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds.

I had a little treat after my smoothie, four hempballs that I got from a raw-food restaurant before I started my cleanse/fast. I'd put them in the freezer and forgot about them and just noticed them today, what a nice surprise!

I was planning to have a salad this evening but I wasn't hungry so decided I would just skip a meal, I'm sure I'll feel better for it. I've often read that undereating is one of the best things you can do for your health so I'm going to try to keep that in mind.

I was hoping to watch the live webcast of Oprah's "A New Earth" tonight but couldn't get connected, guess I'll listen to it tomorrow.

Time to call it a day.

Breaking the Fast

It's been a very yummy fruit day today. First thing this morning I had a grapefruit, it tasted soooo good. Then a couple hours later I had about eight prunes that I had soaked overnight, they were so sweet and delicious! Mid afternoon I had two oranges, I blended one and poured it over a cut up one in a bowl, wow, did that ever taste good. I'm just loving the fruit today. My final meal was two grated apples with date cream. The date cream was just three dates, soaked for about 20 minutes then blended with the soak water and a little cinnamon and half a vanilla bean, very good.

I bought some bananas today so will likely have something with bananas tomorrow and maybe a salad. My plan is to keep my meals really as simple as possible but still interesting.

I've been cleaning up some clutter this week so that feels really good too.

That's it for today, my honey should be home soon, yeh!!

Water Fast

This is an update on the last five days on my clease/fast. I completed seven days of the Master Clease and on Monday started a water fast. I was a little apprehensive about doing a water fast because my only experience on only water was one day in the middle of a juice fast and it was quite uncomfortable.

So this is how the last three days have gone. Monday was no problem except I really didn't like the taste of just water, especially after the seven days of lemonade which was quite sweet with all the maple syrup. However, I stuck to it and the day went well. I was really tired around 6:00 pm so laid down and slept for an hour which is very unusual for me to sleep that long and so soundly during the day. When I woke up I felt nauseated and kind of spacey but that pretty much went away in a couple of hours. I slept quite well Monday night.

Tuesday morning I felt a little weak and still slightly nauseated but that soon passed and the rest of the day was great. I was quite surprised how good I felt. I just sipped water whenever I felt thirsty, I didn't drink a lot at one time and I drank it slightly warm. Tuesday night I didn't sleep well at all. I woke up about 2:30 am and my heart was pounding and I broke out in a sweat and felt very uneasy and wide awake. I got up and drank a bit of water, changed into dry PJ's, read for a bit and when I was feeling better I all of a sudden got quite tired so went back to bed and slept until 8:00 am. I don't usually sleep past 6:00 so this was quite a surprise.

Wednesday I felt pretty good all day. I had planned to go out to do a couple of errands but we had a huge snowfall so decided to stay home. All day today and yesterday I've had a very salty taste in my mouth, probably my body detoxing the salt from the salt flushes I did, I wouldn't do salt flushes again, I really don't think all that salt is a good thing. Wednesday night was worse than Tuesday. I woke up with my heart pounding, feeling very weak and sweating much more than the night before. I actually felt like I might pass out. I got up, changed into dry PJ's, and decided to squeeze some orange juice into my water to get me over the weakness. In about 15 minutes I felt much better and went back to bed and right to sleep. For some reason I started to feel really chilled about 6:00 am so got up and filled my hot water bottle and went back to bed to warm up.

I decided to break my water fast today, Thursday, it felt like I had done the water long enough so this morning I had four ounces of fresh strained orange juice diluted with 4 ounces of water. One hour later I had the same and two hours after that I had 8 ounces of slightly diluted orange juice and in a couple more hours I will have one or two whole oranges, which I'm supposed to chew well. That will be all the food for today.

I've also been reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle and have been making a conscious effort to live in the present and being still and meditating, which to me is just trying not to think about things but just "be". It's a great book and I'm also listening to Oprah's class on the book. The class in on Monday nights for the next 10 weeks. Just go to www.oprah.com for details.

Overall its been a great experience and I'm so glad I did it. I feel really good and my stomach is so flat, I love it. One of the reason I wanted to do this cleanse/fast was to hopefully resolve some of the issues I'd been having such as overeating and yo-yoing between raw and cooked. I'm very excited now and looking forward to following Doug Graham's 80/10/10 plan.

I'm really looking forward to those oranges!!

Master Clease - Fifth Day!

I can't believe how good I feel, I feel like I could keep this up forever, of course if I start thinking about food, my mouth does start to water.

I finally used up all my celery and romaine so no green juice today, just lemonade, well except for the salt wash first thing this morning. Even that didn't have much of an affect on me, don't think there's much there.

I'm feeling so clear, my eyesight has even improved slightly and my skin is so healthy looking. My tongue has been slightly coated the last couple of days so used my tongue scraper and got rid of that.

My Zeolite arrived yesterday so I started using that. It helps to get rid of heavy metals among other things. My husband, Bob, started doing the cleanse today so its going to be a real adjustment not to have meals this weekend, what will we do??

I've been looking for a water purifier and I found one that looks really good. There's a write up about it on the website www.H3Environmental.com This website has a lot of other really great stuff too!

That's it for today.
Have a really great weekend!

Day Four

Wow, it sure seems like I'm going through a lot of maple syrup, maybe I'll cut back some, I'm not used to so much sugar.

Sleeping seems to be my biggest issue right now, sure wish I could sleep a litle longer, was awake again at 3:30 and just slept off and on until I got up at 6:00 so its 8:30 pm and I'm ready for bed. Maybe its the maple syrup.

I'm still drinking my laxative tea morning and night, wonder how long I should keep that up.

Today I had 10 cups of lemonade and two green juices (celery and romaine). I really think I should cut back on the maple syrup.

No obvious detox symptoms today, not sure if that's good or bad.

It was a beautiful sunny day today but very cold. I did get out today, did a couple of errands, one of them getting more lemons, and went to visit a friend. I can't remember if I mentioned that I broke a bone in my foot a week before coming home from CR so I'm still not back to work and have been pretty immobile, something I'm not used to.

Feeling a little down tonight, think I'm just tired.
Calling it a day.

Day Three

I was awake a lot last night, not sure why. I'm sure not sleeping very well since I started this cleanse but I didn't feel tired today, in fact, I felt great! That kind of surprises me as I was thinking day three might be the hardest. I don't think I'm very toxic as I've been eating mainly raw for about eight years now but we recently got back from spending eight weeks in Costa Rica where we didn't stick strictly to raw. Hope I feel this good tomorrow.

First thing this morning I had a laxative tea, I also had one last evening. Had very little action in that department today so we'll see what tomorrow brings, might have to do one of those salt washes, it really doesn't sound too appealing.

I had some really nice organic celery and romaine lettuce in the fridge that wouldn't keep for 10 days so I had a green juice this morning. I know that's not part of this cleanse but I was wondering if the odd juice would be better than consuming so much maple syrup as long as I don't run low on energy.

Other than that, during the day I had 8 cups of lemonade and really didn't feel hungry at all. My sister called and they were going out to a steakhouse with my brother and his wife to celebrate my sister and sister-in-law's birthdays and asked me to join them. I really would have liked to see them all but couldn't bring myself to go and watch them eat what they eat and also I wasn't sure what that steakhouse smell would do to me.

It's 7:30 pm and I'm having my last drink of the day, my herbal tea.
I'm not feeling tired now, but it seems to hit me all of a sudden around 9:30.

So, until tomorrow

Second Day of my Master Clease

I knew when I got back from Costa Rica that I wanted to do a clease of some sort. I considered doing the 92 Day Juice Feast but then when Tera mentioned she was doing the Master Clease and sent me some info, I thought I'd give it a try too and my goal is to do it for 10 days.

Yesterday was a pretty busy day so it went fast and I had no real hunger, when I did start to feel hungry, I just drank more lemonade. First thing in the morning yesterday I had a laxative tea and during the day I had 12 cups of lemonade and in the evening I had another cup of laxative tea. I was really tired and fell asleep at my computer around 9:30 pm, which really isn't unusual for me, so went to bed and slept until 3:30 am. I got up for a bit and read then went back to bed until 7:00.

Today, first thing, I had a cup of laxative tea and since everything seems to be fine in that area, I haven't done a salt wash. So far today I've had about 8 cups of lemonade (it's now 2:30 pm). I planned to stay home all day today and tomorrow because in the past when I've done a fast, which have always been juice fasts, the second and third day were the hardest for me; but, touch wood, today's been great but I am taking it easy and not doing anything strenuous. The only symptom I have is a very slight headache that comes and goes and I feel a bit more tired than usual.

One little tip, I make a quart of lemonade at a time, I find it more convenient and also I can keep better track of how much I'm drinking. I also make it with warm water and keep it warm by setting the jar in a bowl of hot water. The last thing I feel like doing in this cold weather is drinking a cold drink.

That's all for this lemony day!
